What is Tempestry?
Tempestry is a community-built encyclopedia of history. Anyone can create entries for historical events, add sources, vote on accuracy, and connect events into collections — building a living, interconnected map of the past.
What is an entry?
An entry represents a historical event, period, or topic. Entries can stand alone or be nested inside a parent entry — so "The Apollo 11 Moon Landing" can live inside "The Space Race", which lives inside "The Cold War".
How do I add an entry?
Sign in and go to Studio. Click "New entry" to create one manually, or go to Generate to paste a Wikipedia URL and extract a full set of events automatically.
What is the Explore page?
Explore shows every entry in the encyclopedia on a single interactive timeline. Drag to pan through history, scroll to zoom from century down to day level, and click any event to read it in detail. Switch to the Globe tab to see geolocated events on a 3D world map.
How does voting work?
You can upvote or downvote any entry. Votes influence the entry's score and help surface the most significant and accurate events in search and on the homepage.
What sources should I include?
Link to reliable sources — encyclopaedias, academic papers, reputable news archives. Good sources help other users verify the entry and build trust in the content.
How do I report inaccurate content?
Contact us and we'll review the entry and correct it.
